Founder of a Scholarly Legacy
Maharaja Ranbir Singh was not only a capable ruler, but also a philosopher-king and ardent supporter of education. His court welcomed traditional Indian scholars as well as Western Indologists.
He constructed the Shri Raghunath Mandir complex in Jammu and supported a major reference library within the temple grounds. The library was imagined as more than a storehouse of manuscripts: it was a living university of sacred learning.
The present digital library carries forward that vision by making manuscripts easier to discover, purchase and study.
